Silverton to Durango
115 miles 20k ft. of elevation gain
The day begins in Silverton. Head North on Highway 550 to Ophir Pass. After riding Ophir Pass turn left on Highway 145 for about 10 miles. Turn right on West Dolores Road and left on Eagle Creek Road. Start Calico Trail. This trail might be the most dangerous in the state, it has several sections of extreme exposure, do not continue if you are unsure.
If you bypass North Calico by staying on Eagle Creek Road you can rejoin the trail and skip the most extreme exposure. At the end of the trail turn left on Highway 145 for about 8 miles. The town of Rico is 3 miles North of where you turn off for Scotch Creek Road and offers food and possibly fuel. Turn right onto Divide Road for a couple of miles before turning off onto Corral Draw Singletrack. This trail runs for several miles before crossing Hermosa Creek and joining ATV trail which becomes singletrack. At the trailhead turn left onto Jones Creek. At the top of that trail in the field intersection turn right onto Pinkerton Flagstaff which offers great views before the final descent down a chunky road. Cross under the tunnel to the trailhead. The GPX file continues to Durango on back roads with 25-45mph speed limits.
