St. Charles to Silver Cliff:
80 miles 12.5k ft. of elevation gain
The route starts with the option of St. Charles Trail. This first trail is a good representation of how difficult the route will be, if you struggle with it know there are still hundreds of miles to go. When you reach Cinseros you can choose to drop down to the lake and go up the extremely challenging Snowslide trail, the first challenge segment of the route. After riding Pole Creek & Horse Ranch Trails of trails and dirt roads you will enter the Wet Mountains Valley. Cross Highway 69 and enter the Rainbow Trail at the South Colony Trailhead.
You will ride the Rainbow Trail nearly to the end. At the Gibson Creek Trailhead you can head to Silver Cliff. This town offers fuel, food, and lodging. If desired fuel is also available 20 trail miles ahead in Cotopaxi.
